2009 AWARDS DINNER AT THE SEABRIGHTS BARN
Chelmsford Speakers
celebrated it's first birthday on Wednesday the 24th of June at Seabrights
Barn Carvery, Great Baddow.
The members and guests thoroughly enjoyed a great
dinner which had an exceptionally friendly atmosphere, that varied
between noisy and rowdy cameraderie, to the more slightly
serious speeches of appreciation and individual awards.
The Most Improved Speaker award went to Brian Skelton, the Presidents Award was gained by Sylvia Lanz and the Toastmaster of the Year was won by James McGinty.
James takes over as President of Chelmsford Speakers Club as well as Division Governor from the 1st of July
As President for the last year, I attempted to define why our Club is so forward looking, eager to improve and set good examples.
I believe it's because our members are from such diverse backgrounds. professions, age ranges and geographical areas, and we're all new, striving and pulling together to get it right!
The incoming committee members are dedicated to Toastmasters, and we have Pradosh Nag, DTM for VP Education, Dino Khan a professional, self-employed accountant for Treasurer, Trevor Jones a wickedly, wonderful wordsmith, as Secretary, Sylvia Lanz as Sergeant at Arms and James McGinty as incoming President!
We can't fail with that line-up!
It must be working somehow, because Chelmsford Speakers has achieved the Select Distinguished Club Award
which, being just one year old, gives it the best foundation it could possibly have.
Next year, we're really going to hit the heights, and if we have a member winning the District 71 Internatiional Speech Competition, I will accompany her/him to America or wherever it will be!
Everybody is most welcome to come along to any meeting, our next one will be Wednesday the 8th of July and fortnightly after that.
Well done Chelmsford, I'm so proud of you!
